Your changes and screenshots are saved in this browser. Patchpin sends nothing to us. AI is optional: when you request replacements, the selected text and your direction go through your local companion to your chosen AI provider. The agent inbox, when you turn it on, shares change sets only with that local companion.
Page text, screenshots, and HTML can contain sensitive information. Review your bundle before sharing it with your agent.
Browser previews reset when you close Patchpin or refresh. Your drafts stay saved until you clear them.

Connect your local AI tool.
Get three text alternatives without leaving the page. Use a signed-in Codex, Claude Code, or Cursor CLI. The companion runs on this computer; your AI provider still processes the text and its usual usage limits apply.
Download the companion from the release alongside the Chrome ZIP, or use the copy in this repo. Install Node.js 22.22.2 or newer, install and sign into your preferred CLI, then run the command below from the companion’s folder.
Keep that terminal open. Paste the pairing code it prints, then connect. The permission prompt grants access only to your computer’s local companion.

Different Patchpin installations have different IDs. Always use the command shown above in this installation’s Settings.
- In your companion terminal, press Ctrl+C.
- Copy the command above and run it in the companion’s folder.
- Paste the new pairing code here and click Connect AI tool.
If asked to update the companion, replace patchpin-companion.mjs with the file from the latest release first. A pairing code changes every time the companion restarts.
Only selected text and your rewrite direction are sent. Screenshots, HTML, URL, drafts, and page context stay here. Your AI account credentials stay in your signed-in CLI. ChatGPT and Claude desktop apps are not directly controlled.
OPTIONAL · AGENT INBOX (MCP)
Let your coding agent pick up changes.
The same local companion is also an MCP server. Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and other MCP agents can read your change sets, fetch their screenshots, and mark changes done, which turns their pins green in the browser. Tell your agent “Watch Patchpin and implement changes as they arrive” and it keeps working while you point.

When this is on, each page’s change set, including its screenshots, page text and selectors, is sent to the companion on this computer and kept in its memory until it stops. Only local processes can read it; web pages are refused. Nothing is sent to us.

Deleting a draft clears it from local storage. Export it first if you want a backup. Close Patchpin on the page before deleting its draft.
